Okay folks, time to get everyone out to the track for some real riding.

The next readily available track day is at Miller Motorsports Park on July 24th. So far, its scheduled for the West track but there is discussion of using the full track configuration instead. I'm betting it will just be the West though.

For those who have already been to a track day, you know the drill.

For those who have not, here's our general procedure:

    1) You've gotta have riding gear:
    - Full (pants & jacket or 1 piece) leathers.
    - Good quality textile will also be approved but you're definately best with leather.
    - Over the ankle boots. Racing style boots are best but I have seen some cruiser style boots out there.
    - Full gauntlet gloves with a cinch @ the wrist as well as @ the gauntlet.
    - BoiseRiders.net and IdahoSportbikes.com can help you get the gear you need - just ask us.

    2) You've gotta have a bike in good mechanical condition.
    - Good tires (brand new isn't a requirement)
    - Good break pads
    - No Fluid Leaks

    3) You've gotta run something other than a glycol based coolant.
    - Plain water works fine.
    - Water with an adative called 'Water Wetter' works better.

    4) You've gotta tape over your lights and signals to minimize cleanup if something would happen and to prevent distractions for other riders
    - You should also pull the fuzes on your lights.

    5) Visit www.idahosportbikes.com to get signed up.
    - ISB works with Apex (the track day provider) and can get us all a decent discount.

    6) Post up your travel plans in here so that we can all coordinate and save on gas and other expenses.

So far, I know that the following riders are going:

    Hozhead (yeah - that's me!!)
    Gr8Dane
    AlxandrtheGr8
    Shane431
    Ben@IdahoSportBikes (of course)
    Ryan@IdahoSportBikes (of course)

We're still waiting to hear from:
Pesticide (you NEED to go and test out that new bike!!)

    I've got hope for:
Tanman (if he gets up the courage to ask his wife)
1ce (you'll need the leathers but you're definately ready to be out there)
Nick1983 & Durka Turka -> You've got the new bikes, its time to really use them!!!
Svbmudssa -> You KNOW you want it!!
XLR8 -> We don't ever see you and we have to take your word that you're getting use of the GSX-R - care to prove it?

And don't go thinking that if you aren't on the list I thought of while I'm half asleep that you don't belong on the track with us.

  3. Sorry not me on the 24th,.... but I have very high hopes for labor day ;D

I hope to be able to trailer my bike down piggy back with someone. I am saving my pennies and whatnot just so the significant other can't be pissed about the money

  4. And I'll be there with Bridgestone tires.

  5. I'll be there! If someone needs their bike transported let me know. I've got a nice new transported!

Butters aka Pesticide will be there. He gets his leathers today from Moto One. As for me, I'm broke and I don't have leather pants. :dunno:

  7. looks like it will be a nice turnout.

Well, I had a FANTASTIC track day yesterday!! It was a very fast day but there are definately several places where I can make big improvements in my speed/time so I'll definately have a lot to work on next time.

My track fairings worked out really well (and thankfully I didn't crash test them).
There were two suspension pro's there who's basic services were paid for by APEX as part of our registration fee. It was great to get things dialed in better which not only meant for better riding but it should also mean better tire wear.
The Metzler M3's REALLY stuck to the track!! I couldn't be more pleased with the grip they offered. I may still prefer the profile of the Michelin Pilot Power's but I won't really be able to decide until after some street riding.

I don't have any pictures yet but will be posting some up after I get them from GR8Dane and possibly ordering some from the professional who was there.

  9. Hoze, is right. We had a blast. The Idaho guys are all fast and it was fun chasing each other around the track. THe most fun I've had at a trackday. My new track weapon did pretty well. The only thing that I don't agree with Hoze is on tire wear  I may keep my back tire as a trophy ;D

  10. Been out of the loop for a little bit. So Hoz you got the bike up and going again? I might be able to make it. When do you plan on heading out? Oh yeah next time I see you I'll give you that 13 I owe you for the shirt.

Shannon - you may want to take a look at the dates of the other posts... this was from July 24th, 2006.

To answer your question though, yeah, I got the bike up and moving again and did a track day on June 25th. I'm pretty sure I'm good for the next race weekend or perhaps another track day.

  12. oops! My Bad! LOL! Well its good to see you back in the saddle again. Let me know whats up about the race. I need to swap another set of tires, so let me know if thats cool. I got a pop up camper, I'm in the process of remodeling it right now, but it sleepable.
