A 25-year-old Boise man sustained life-threatening injuries when his motorcycle collided with a jeep near Chinden and Whitepost in Boise Saturday afternoon.

The man, whose name was not released, was in surgery at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise Saturday night.

Police believe drugs played a role in the accident, which was called into Ada County dispatch at 4:21 p.m.

"It looks like the motorcyclist was at fault and speed was a primary factor," said Lt. Kent Lipple of the Boise City Police Department. "He ran into the side of the jeep."

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.

Accident reconstructionists were called to the scene as part of the investigation. A DUI investigation on the motorcyclist will take place. Lipple said there is an outstanding felony warrant on the motorcyclist.
